JOB: Electrical Project Engineer

Electrical Project Engineer

Overview
The Project Engineer is responsible for the planning, control, and integration of engineering activities and the development of project deliverables to insure the success of their project. The individual designs power, lighting, and fire alarm systems for commercial, institutional and industrial facilities within a consulting engineering firm. The Project Engineer utilizes his or her creativity, foresight, and mature engineering judgment to anticipate and solve engineering problems, determine program objectives and requirements, and develop standards and guides for diverse engineering activities. The Project Engineer works closely with engineers and/or designers and delegates design responsibility and drawing production to them. The Project Engineer communicates with other disciplines to achieve a coordinated design. We are looking for the right person to mentor our well-qualified staff, interact with clients, and work with the rest of the team at Epstein.

General Responsibilities

  • Gains a full understanding of the project objective, scope, deliverables, budget implications, and other factors that impact design activities.
  • Establishes design criteria for specific projects.
  • Takes responsible lead in the design and detailing of engineering systems.
  • Manages the development of construction/equipment installation documents and project deliverables.
  • Performs analysis and design calculations or designates design and drawing activities to other project members.
  • Reviews and evaluates computer program and manual calculations for technical accuracy and compliance with established design criteria.
  • Coordinates with the project team and all design disciplines during the course of the project.
  • Performs field surveys and prepares associated reports.
  • Assists in preparing estimates of probable costs (i.e., for construction, equipment installation, etc.) at various stages of design.
  • Participates in preparation of project specifications.
  • Performs periodic design reviews; ensures designs follow specifications, codes and regulations, and contract requirements. Ensures technical and quality standards are maintained.
  • Reviews shop drawings for compliance with contract requirements and documents.

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with emphasis in Electrical Engineering
  • Registered Professional Engineer (preferred)
  • 7-10 years of successful project experience within a consulting engineering firm
  • Working knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, Word, Excel, Outlook and discipline specific software packages such as SKM Power Analysis and AGI-32 Lighting Analysis
  • Expertise in engineering systems and related design principles
  • Awareness of other disciplines and the interrelationship of the various elements of design
  • Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code and general building codes is a must
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • LEED Accreditation preferred

Job Responsibilities include:
•             Daily contact via phone and email with existing (90%) and potential customers (10%) to quote business and pro-actively tele-market our product.
•             Manage pricing based on local market levels, inventory availability, and overhead costs to maximize profits and customer service.
•             Manage customer price sheets if applicable
•             Work in conjunction with manufacturer’s reps and regional sales people to grow business.
•             Evaluate customer needs to determine appropriate products or alternatives to meet job or project requirements.
•             Coordinate marketing activities with major distributors, including marketing and other programs or promos. Coordinate new customer set-up process. Collect data needed by accounts receivable to establish lines of credit. Determine appropriate line based on estimated volume.
•             Enter quotes and orders into computer system.
•             Occasionally visit customers in specific marketplaces to solidify relationship and/or develop new business.
•             Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications/Desired Characteristics:
•             Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university preferred
•             3-5yrs of related industry experience desired
•             Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
•             Detail oriented.
•             Open-minded self-starter with the ability to adapt, improvise and problem solve.
•             Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a close knit office environment.

Responsibilities:

  • The Fire Alarm-Sprinkler System Tester performs assigned tasks at customer sites for fire life safety system services.
  • Assists in performing tasks to include visual and functional testing on fire detection systems and field devices in accordance with all national and local standards.
  • Maintains complete and accurate documentation of tests performed.

Required Knowledge Skill/Experience/Education:

  • MUST have minimum high school diploma/GED.
  • MUST have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work a full-time schedule.
  • MUST be able to possess a PERC card, if hired.
  • NICET for Water Base Systems (not REQUIRED)
  • NICET for Fire Alarm Systems (not REQUIRED)
